I wish I could explain what it was like to have a newborn baby.

It was laying in bed, the three of us, half asleep. It was alot of snapshots, alot of diaper changes, visitors, anxiety (me), a lot of nursing (I never once complained, and nursed her for 17.5 months). It was alot of hugging, kissing, it was a lot of saying please and thank you, it was a lot of wondering. It was late nights, middle of the nights, early mornings. It was napping when the baby napped, it was alot of baby talk, it was alot of hoping we were doing it right.

There were some tears, frustrations, anxiety, hormones. No one really tells you how the hormones really feel. Because you really can't prepare for that. No one tells you how scared you will be of "going" to the bathroom you will be.

I will tell you this: you will be surprised at just how much and how deeply you will love your baby. Until you have a baby, you are unaware that this kind of love exists. The love you will feel for your baby will bring you to tears. It will stir up emotions at weird times, for weird reasons. Whether you are good with children or not, everything is different when the child is yours.
